ORIGINAL: ManimalX I guess I'm just not a good liar. It is like when I was a kid playing baseball. There was one time that we lost a game because of some HORRIBLE calls by the ump.... who just happened to be the father of two of the kids on the other team!!!! We still lined up at the end and went down the line "good gaming" everyone on the other team, but we knew the only reason they won was because they cheated. So, "good game" to Obama and I really truly sincerely hope he is successful now that he is in, but it was by no means an honorable victory. I'm dropping out of the thread, out of respect for the OP. If you want to discuss this further, PM me or start a new thread. Well, saying how you feel is better than pretending I guess.

I'm happy obama won and I thihnk he will do a good job and surprise a lot of folks. I will wait to see his actions before judging all the things some people on here are saying. just watch closely and get involved so you can see if and what laws he might wish to change. You know, he has the House and Senate and Supreme Court to deal with also.. he wont be a lone maverick running amuck doing whatever.. And he still has to be sworn in January, and part of that swearing in states that he will support the USA and such things, right? I have a feeling he will do a better job than some here expect. anyway maybe its good to stir things up, get sleeping people actively doing something for their government, getting involved. We the people, and all that.

I have a feeling he will do a better job than some here expect. Considering that the expectations on this board have been set so very low, I have no doubt that he will exceed the expectations. I think he will be an intelligent, thoughtful president which is two characteristics we haven't seen in our leadership in at least 8 years.

Again, racism is an ongoing thing. This IS a huge step though. HOWEVER, not to the extent of 50, 20 10 or even 5 years ago! And I think that is going to be difficult for a lot of people (including yourself apparently) to understand! It is a large step, will there be racism, sure, but an obviously minute small insignificant segment of the population. I mean, Obama WON Virginia, hello! you may be able to look at some on both sides of the color barrier and say you did/did not vote for the man based on color of skin, but the overwhelming majority voted on policy and politics and that doesn't make you a racist. The Chapter on racism is closed, there may be a paragraph written here and there but the CHAPTER IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED.

I don't know why you say it's "difficult" for me to understand. You just quoted me as saying this is a huge step. As a black man (I don't know if you are) I can tell you that racism is an ongoing thing. This is not something I'm guessing at. It is not an excuse any black person can use for a lack of success in this country. I am proud of our country. Proud to be an American. I'm proud of John McCain, who was far more gracious in defeat than Hillary Clinton. I'm proud of our President. Today is NOT a "Dark Day" for America as someone previously stated.

But on a positive note, (keeping in tune with OP) I can say that I am proud that America is able to elect and A.A. and that the segment of racists has been deminished that much more.

I'm still amazed that this has happened.. I was so giddy I couldn't even focus at work today. I pray that President Obama will be as wise, just, and inspiring leader as God wills him to be.

Also want to thank John McCain for a gracious, touching, and well- done concession speech. God bless you too!
