So now that the hoopla is over and we can get down to the business of a new president, what are your expectations? What "change" do you hope for? What "change" do you really expect?

Obama is going to pay for my gas, and my rent, and my ramen noodles, and my dogfood, and my cable, and my internet, and the little messiah is going to buy me a brand new plasma TV!!!!1111!!11!!1 Oh wait, sorry. I got a little Kool-Aid contact high. My real expectations? High energy prices, the abandonment of Israel, and a lot of dead babies.

ORIGINAL: Memaw. What "change" do you hope for? I hope for a real change in the republican party back to a true conservativism and i hope that since the super majority of dems didn't arise that they grow a backbone and hold off as much of the destructive policies as possible. I hope that next time around we have a conservative presidential nominee that we can actually get fired up about. quote:

People had that same fear in 1960 - Center for Baptist studies How'd that turn out? I don't remember any great persecution in the '60s but what do you think the '60s did for this country? I think the persecution will be more economic - we're in for a miserable two years at least, like the vast majority of Americans have never seen. But I do expect, like the '60s, a moral decline and a further degredation of the character of this country. I just pray that when there's an enormous swing back in two years and the stupid, stupid voters have major buyers remorse putting all these democrats in charge, and put a balance back between the Legislative and Executive, I pray it's not too late to regain some of the ground we're losing economically, morally, and patriotically. In the mean time, all I can do is pray for dh's boss and my other friends who own small businesses so as many of us as possible can keep our jobs and hang on.

Reccession. Finally the whiners will actually observe a true reccession. I blame it on the Pittsburg Steelers. They beat the Washington Redskins on Monday night. In the 17 times Washington has played before the election, when they lost the opposing party won the election. I just wish the skins woulda played Detroit on Monday night and not the Steelers. We would have McCain as presidnet then. We MUST privately fund Crisis Pregancy Centers. We MUST be gracious and not stoop to the name calling the left did against Bush. ALL christians need to pray for President Obama everyday. We must find true conservatism once again. It would seem we must support a black conservative.

Actually, Iraq is a mooot point now. Bush did a 180 after the 2006 midterm losses and started facing reality. The changes in tactics militarily and in working with the Iraqis turned the tide. The agreement with iraq spells out the US levels of troops and Obama will likely let it play out. Afghanistan is a whole new game as US neglect gave the Taliban the opportunity to regroup. That war has no end in sight.

I expect President Obama to do a fine job and surprise ya'll. I expect a tax break as it will one day be settled what is the amount $250,000, $200,000, $150,000 or other. I expect that life will go on pretty much as usual,, Christians will not be persecuted (i dont know where people get that idea). It would be nice if the war would end and troops can come home to be with their families who love them and get on with their own life. i expect christians to get more involved and motivated more so than they have, to put feet to their prayer and wishes, if the abortion laws look like they are going to actually be changed, then I expect christians to get up and protest / get involved more. I also hope that forgiveness can happen between us here on the forums who were for one candidate vs the other and that we can all go back to discussion as usual. i mainly expect obama to surprise the ones who doubted.

I expect that every word of criticism of Obama will be treated as a "racial hatred" remark. It was okay for everyone to criticize George W for eight years, but it will NOT be okay to criticize Obama. I believe that Obama is one of the biggest racists in America. You absolutely cannot go to the church he went to for 20 years and then claim otherwise. The country will find out all about Obama in the coming years.

I doubt we could burn him in effigy like we can of Bush. Which is why I believe hate crimes are a form of discrimination. I expect more socialism and higher taxes. No worries here about being persecuted.

My expectations? 1) People will gloat for a while, and I will shrug it off, because it's human nature. It stinks, but I know of people who have had Bush bumper stickers on their cars for years. 2) African-Americans will be proud, rightfully so, that someone of their ethnic heritage has become president. As a country dealing with racism, we've come very far in the last century! 3) We are now on the unofficial countdown to the end of the "honeymoon period" (the honeymoon period officially starts at inauguration). 4) Sooner or later the MSM will be bored with all the gushing, and start reporting again. Oprah, though, is likely a lost cause...she has been thoroughly assimilated into the borg collective. 5) Campaign promises will be broken. How can they not be? The most interesting to see will be whether or not Obama signs the Freedom of Choice Act as his first act upon becoming president. My guess = not although he will advance the pro-abortion cause as president. 6) Energy prices will go up, and Obama will deliver a fireside chat in a sweater telling us it's our patriotic duty to conserve. 7) The Bush tax cuts will be allowed to expire, and people will finally recognize that their taxes are increasing, although Democrats in Congress, and the President, will argue that they didn't "vote for a tax increase." 8) Obama will have some rude awakenings in the area of foreign relations. 9) People will become increasingly disenchanted as they realize that it was all empty words. And as they realize what it means to have a president and congress with socialist leanings. The rest of us will be in the position of saying "I told you so." and finally... 10) Rush Limbaugh will have a very good time during the next four years playing the role of the "loyal opposition."

Being as how he is the candidate of "Hope and Change" after his speech last night, I don't feel very hopeful, but because I am conservative, was he speaking to me or am I supposed to feel hopeless? He could have came out last night and gave a "I have a dream" speech, or a Lincolnesque speech but he did not, just spewed out the same ol' same ol'. I mean I could have at least gotten a gleam of hope from the speech but I was left feeling really empty, and I think a lot of people in the audience was also, there were no loud boisterous cheers just some applause and some chants but the speech was nothing that I expected.

Only if you are able to get a "Ham Radio' because the fairness doctrine will put an end to Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck and the others. Sadly, they are the only ones that have the power to get the truth out because those in the republican party won't do so..

Hello comrade... I HOPE that Obama is thwarted in making CHANGES... Either he will govern from the center, according to his campaign rhetoric or he will govern from the left in accord with his record. We will have to awit and see. My opinion is that he will govern from the far left. I believe that he has an affinity for socialism and is anti capitalism. Conservatives MUST insist on NO bipartisanship. Conservatives MUST let representatives and senators know in no uncertain terms that we do not have and do not want one party. Conservatives MUT let them know that we want gridlock. That we expect them to stand up and fight for conservative values at all cost. People like McCain and Lindsay Graham must be reined in. In Washington bipartisan has come to mean agreeing with the left. Standing up for conservative values has come to mean obstructionism. We need no more 'gangs of 10' or anything like that... we need gridlock!! I am very disappointed with McCain and I hope he will now go home. He did not run to win as much as he ran to be liked. He has served the country well be did not serve the party well, IMO. What do I really expect? I have not seen any conservative leadership since Newt. I expect the democrats to ram things down our throat and I expect the republicans to do nothing other than try to get reelected. I expect the democrats to be leftists and I expect the republicans to be 'democrat lite'. Yeah, I am cynical... why shouldn't I be? I expect America to become Amerika... but I DO have hope. I get hope from knowing history, from knowing that the left will over reach and that pendulums swing... they always swing. They swing one way and then they swing back.

I expect our military will have less young people joining. Our military will no longer be up to standards in order to protect this country. I expect there will be a greater muslim presence in this country. NOT because Obama is muslim but because of the relations he desires with the middle east countries. I expect our relationship with Israel will change.
