Wow. That is sad. I still like her. Geography is not my strong suit either but a bit of homework could have made all the difference.

I didn't watch it all, but the more I hear about what happened during the campaign, the more I think she's not a viable candidate for 2012.

Yep! And that was from a CONSTITUTIONAL Lawyer/Professor. His other gaffe of major proportions was when he said that when I'm president for the next 8-10 years. Hello, the POTUS is limited to two 4 year terms. (22nd Amendment)

57 States and 1 left to go!

Obama: I'll Be President For 'The Next 8 to 10 Years'?

I think people really aren't too stupid to recognize the difference between a verbal flub and genuine ignorance.

Ok a verbal flub is the 8-10 years but I do not think the state comment is any different than the Africa one.

I agree with this. I think it is telling that the FOX news report talked about a pattern of ignorance on different issues, not a slip of the tongue.

He's a constitutional attorney. He taught constitutional law as a professor. He should know the 22 Amendment which is very easy to understand. The POTUS serves 8 years max.

quote:

1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President, when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.

2. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States by the Congress.

Which "Africa one"? They're saying she didn't know what Africa was, which is nestled among a larger pattern of ignorance, not that she made a flub. Did you watch the video?

Please don't stumble so blindly into my earlier remark. I genuinely believe you are being disingenuous here. Not the alternative.

I'm more than willing to help our new President out.

Texas has the right to split itself up into four separate states. Then all he has to do is find three more! (That'd help the conservative status of the Senate too with six more Senators!)

I wasn't talking about your comment but if you all are going to rag on Sarah Palin then hey the POTUS Elect's similar gaffes that were caught on tape are fair game. He was born and schooled in the 50th state, you know the last one admitted to the union. He should have known the number of states there are.

Have you heard this from Sarah Palin? Or are you just repeating opinions and third hand accounts and other people's translations? This is pretty much nothing more than gossip and slander and Christians should feel a deep sense of shame pursuing it.

Palin Derangement Syndrome is so dang annoying.

Yes and you not knowing about that is one of the many reasons the mainstream media died during this election cycle. They were nothing more than an extension of the Obama campaign. How sickening.

I'm pretty sure Palin, while perhaps not giving Obama the presidency, really helped push him up and over the line.

I think that there may indeed have been a "Palin effect" of a large number of people walking away in disgust.

Tell that to the rally crowds that were bigger than the crowds for Obama, McCain, or Biden.

I stand by these remarks and believe a lot of people are being incredibly disingenuous. I do not believe people are really that dumb.

I'm so glad that people can discern "genuine ignorance" from a few passing remarks from reporters commenting on third hand accounts.

You are all more wise than I.

Palin kept McCain from a Mondale like defeat. This is about 2012.

I think that the election outcome is a fact that blows away whatever anecdotes you can pull out of your hat.

Besides that, I think it's important to point out that what the Republican base that is still blind enough to give Bush 43 whatever positive approval he has left believe about Palin is, in all likelihood, deeply at odds with what other Americans... most Americans believe. I think Palin refers to this majority as "fake Americans".

Energizing the base while turning off everyone else is a great way to drive a wedge between your core constituency and the rest of America. Hello new Democratic majority!

Palin is held to a higher standard than Barack. Maybe if she wasn't white she could get away with mistakes like Barack did.

My remark was in reference to people reflexively comparing apples to oranges, whether the reality of those oranges are based on third hand accounts or not. Apples aren't oranges, and I don't think people are stupid enough to believe that they are.

Should I be cynical enough to believe that people are going to prove me wrong?
