Wow. That is sad. I still like her. Geography is not my strong suit either but a bit of homework could have made all the difference.

I didn't watch it all, but the more I hear about what happened during the campaign, the more I think she's not a viable candidate for 2012.

I think people really aren't too stupid to recognize the difference between a verbal flub and genuine ignorance.

They're saying she didn't know what Africa was, which is nestled among a larger pattern of ignorance, not that she made a flub. Did you watch the video? quote:

I'm more than willing to help our new President out. Texas has the right to split itself up into four separate states. Then all he has to do is find three more! (That'd help the conservative status of the Senate too with six more Senators!)

Or are you just repeating opinions and third hand accounts and other people's translations? This is pretty much nothing more than gossip and slander and Christians should feel a deep sense of shame pursuing it. Palin Derangement Syndrome is so dang annoying.

I'm pretty sure Palin, while perhaps not giving Obama the presidency, really helped push him up and over the line. I think that there may indeed have been a "Palin effect" of a large number of people walking away in disgust.

Palin kept McCain from a Mondale like defeat. This is about 2012.

Tell that to the rally crowds that were bigger than the crowds for Obama, McCain, or Biden. I think that the election outcome is a fact that blows away whatever anecdotes you can pull out of your hat. Besides that, I think it's important to point out that what the Republican base that is still blind enough to give Bush 43 whatever positive approval he has left believe about Palin is, in all likelihood, deeply at odds with what other Americans... most Americans believe. I think Palin refers to this majority as "fake Americans". Energizing the base while turning off everyone else is a great way to drive a wedge between your core constituency and the rest of America. Hello new Democratic majority!

ORIGINAL: ManimalX I'm so glad that people can discern "genuine ignorance" from a few passing remarks from reporters commenting on third hand accounts. You are all more wise than I. My remark was in reference to people reflexively comparing apples to oranges, whether the reality of those oranges are based on third hand accounts or not. Apples aren't oranges, and I don't think people are stupid enough to believe that they are. Should I be cynical enough to believe that people are going to prove me wrong?
