However, Euty still has yet to address my blatent observation on how his style of "grits" is found in Daniel 5:27.

Daniel 5:27 has to do with using an insufficient measure of catfish cooked in grits.

Hezekiah 52:11 is the general and more apropos application:

"Woe unto the man who adds milk or honey to boiled grits. His children and children's children will call him weird." (Today's Relevant Version)

It may be argued that cream and sugar are technically different ingredients. But I see the principle to be the same, i.e. a prohibition of liquid dairy products and sweeteners, including Splenda.

Sorry, Euty, but you are using the outdated Prince James Version 1st edition. AND you took it out of context.

I can't believe you'd introduce such a straw man wearing an ad hominem fedora to the discussion.

I am struggling with some of this, too. "For now": I like this! We have hope. Our family members are sanctified in a special way.

The interesting, ironic, powerful, thought-provoking thing is . . . they still count on our love! Whether they admit it or not. There's my excuse to press the envelope of tactful reminding of what a wonderful Lord we serve.

I've had very much in mind what Polycarp said at his martyrdom: "Eighty-six years I have served Christ, and He never did me any wrong. How can I blaspheme my King who saved me?"

Yep I agree with Polycarp. I have served Jesus since 1970. He has never done me wrong. How can I turn away from such a wonderful King?

Interesting... The non-Calvs have teamed up with RCC in the Great Debate thread and both groups feel real cozy with that.

Interesting but not a big surprise.

When I was a Southern Baptist, I was surprised at all the areas of agreement SBC and RCC appeared to have:

Large Church which is structure where Truth is now only what filters down from the top.

The quickness to label someone a heretic and banish them from the church.

The readiness to appeal to its governmental structure as proof of it being the truth Church.

Most in the SBC are not "Calvinist" anymore.

I've been SBC since 1986. We average between 1200 & 1300 in Bible study each week. We still believe in the priesthood of the believer, not a Sr. Pastor with access to the Father more special than any other believer. And ours is a democratic polity. Our deacons are servants of the church, not dictators.

It's far better than the Free Will Baptist churches where I spent my first 34 years.

Euty, you've heard me say this in other various areas. We are gonna spend the rest of our lives together (eternity) so no use arguing over something that doesn't make or break our Salvation.

Now you wanna argue politics or sports, let's find another thread!

I got tired of debating theology a long time ago. I just try to emphasize where we do agree. I live in Dallas, heart of dispensationism and I am amill. I believe the events of 70 AD are what Jesus is referring to in the first part of his discussion in Matthew. The second coming is not something that follows a "great tribulation" though I do believe good and evil will fight each other until the Second Coming. I get all sorts of funny looks when I express my view, so I tend to change the subject.

Talk about the last minute. The funeral home was finally able to get the life insurance straightened out late yesterday and so we are having the memorial services this evening near Dallas, TX and then the burial in Baton Rouge tomorrow. My dad has a burial plot in Baton Rouge that has been his since sometime around 1948. He will be buried next to his mother, and my mom's ashes will be in the gasket with him. Look forward to the Second Coming even more now when we will be able to see dad, mom and my wife Christy again.

Man the eschatology folder is so full of pure speculation like always. What will the millenium be like? We don't know. Is May 21 2011 the date of the Rapture? we don't know. Why do people refuse to live in the tension of waiting on the Lord's return and not knowing when it will be? It could even be hundreds of years in the future. WE DON'T KNOW!!!!
