ORIGINAL: Tefillah I'm glad to see this thread is still active. I went looking for it yesterday and couldn't find it. Hello, everyone! You all still alive and kicking out there? I'm doing well. I'm kicking as hard as I can. I have begun trying to learn Hebrew. I got a couple of different resources and am using them together. I've got my fingers crossed! It's a challenge studying on my own. But that's half the fun.

I'm willing... my hebrew has been described by Israelis as being about 5th-8th grade in reading, writing, and speaking. if you are game call me! peace out!

1 Corinthians 11-1-8 I know there are different customs and traditions, some due to the dominant culture in a particular area. Is Rav Sha'ul drawing on the idea of the priesthood in terms of head covering? Is this, as far as you understand good orthopraxy for a local congregation to do? Should men wear yarmulkas or kippahs?

With the High Days so early this year, I wasn't sure I would get my pool put away and the sukkah decorated in time, but I think I might just make it. One more week. My daughter's boyfriend is really disappointed because Yom Kippur is on a weekly Shabbat. He likes to "denigh" himself the opportunity of going to classes.

There is a guy that has a similar last name to me - Jordan Lee Wagner - who posted a website that transliterates the siddur prayers (the hebrew pronounciation in english letters) and color coded what prayer goes where and who says it. http://www.siddur.org/ Here is a good intro: http://www.myjewishlearning.com/texts/Liturgy_and_Prayers/Siddur_Prayer_Book.shtml

Torah, Torah, Torah Well, actually Torah, Torah. The Messianic prospect of two (count 'em) two Torahs in scripture has been posed. And I was wondering what others might think of the possibility. The premise is that the one Torah we know (Bereshit -- Debariym) and which is sometimes generalized to mean all scripture on rare occasions could be a precursor to an underlying (in the text of scripture itself) the ultimate Torah. I have hear it said about the two major covenants that one was the ground breaking of the other. That in order to introduce the covenant of grace into the world, the covenant of accusation / condemnation had to be first... alluding to the letter of the law versus the spirit. Romans 8:2 (KJV) 2 For the law (torah) of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law (torah) of sin and death. 1 Corinthians 9:19-21 (NIV) 19 Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. So... What's your take on this? Is there in fact a Torah Moshe and a Torah Moshiakh (Torah Elohiym)?

I think you might be presuming that these two laws are completely seperate "books" of Torah and not individual laws within HaTorah. They were both introduced in B'resheet 3.

Is the Old Covenant not the Torah? Clearly Messiah ushered in the New Covenant in his own blood.

ORIGINAL: JohnHale Is the Old Covenant not the Torah? Clearly Messiah ushered in the New Covenant in his own blood. We need to be careful to not violate the sanctity(purpose) of this thread. There are places to question the validity of HaTorah, but this is not the place. That said, most messianics do not see a seperation between HaTorah and the New Covenant. In fact, the Scriptures tell us, (Jer. 31:33) ""This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people."" As far as I can tell, it is a mark of the messianics that this passage is speaking either of the written code or a greater concept of HaTorah that the written code represents.
